From the Telegraph & Argus of September 26, 1981...plans to increase the speed limit on a road have been postponed following an emergency meeting - despite the new road signs already having been put up. Motorists on Leeds Road between Shipley and Thackley were going to be allowed to increase their speed from 30mph to 40mph, but concerned county councillors put a stop to the plans and said more research was needed into the implications of raising the limit.

From the Telegraph & Argus of September 26, 1956...the Bradford branch of an animal charity has celebrated 25 years of work in the community. To mark its silver jubilee, the PDSA took its mobile dispensary to Manningham in Bradford. People taking their pets along for veterinary care were also met by the lead actors who were performing at the Alhambra's - the Water Gypsies.
