From the Telegraph & Argus of September 13, 1981...Stagnant water in cellars is causing odious problems in three houses in West Bowling, Bradford. No-one knows where the water comes from only that it is there - anything up to a foot deep and smelly. Pamela Phelps, 24, said: "I told the water board. They said it wasn't their problem. The drains department at the council said it wasn't their problem either."

From the Telegraph & Argus of September 13, 1956...The finding of a live grass snake in the grounds of Eccleshill North School on Monday by the headmaster Mr W Hardaker has been taken as further support that a colony of snakes exists in nearly Fagley Woods. Two snakes have already been killed in the woods and another one in Chapel Street, Eccleshill, and a further two in Manningham.
