Lancashire driver Len Woltenden, of Nelson, is one of the top contenders in the line-up of 27 drivers from Britain, Holland, the US and New Zealand who will contest tonight's final.

From the Telegraph & Argus of September 12, 1956...A decision to ban the Bradford showing of the rock and roll teenage riot-provoking film Rock Around the Clock will be decided at a meeting on Friday night. The film, starring Bill Haley and the Comets, is due to be screened at the picture house, Morley Street. It has been shown in several parts of the country last week and was followed by alarming teenage disturbances. The final decision rests with the fire services committee.
