25 years ago: Yorkshire Biscuits, of Haworth, closed after almost 20 years’ trading. Most of the 93 workers were given the day off and only skeleton staff remained.
50 years ago: The number of unemployed workers in Bradford – 1,048 – was the lowest for several years on the eve of Christmas. Only 877 men, many of them disabled, and 171 women were out of work on December 12, according to Bradford Employment Exchange.
