Gale force winds up to 90mph caused traffic chaos and damage. Pedestrians were blown off their feet including 50 pensioners. The M606 and M62 were both partially blocked by over-turned lorries. Fire Service answered 200 calls between 9am and noon.

Parents of boys at Bradford Grammar School will have to pay an extra £7 from the beginning of the summer term this year. This was to be reported at Bradford Education Committee meeting. A minute of the Scholarships and Grants-in-Aid Sub-Committee said the Ministry of Education had approved an increase from £56 to £63.
