Bradford should have a Pakistan twin town says SDP Councillor Iftikhar Qureshi. Councillor Qureshi wants the city's eighth twin town to be Mirpur, one of the biggest towns of Azad Kashmir. Leeds City Council plans to twin with the Indian city of Jullunder, a move which has been condemned by three Tory councillors.

More than 2,000 licences for motor vehicles were issued yesterday from the tax office in Britainnia House, Bradford, in the busiest day the office can remember. It was the day before the last date for renewing licences for the first quarter and queues filled the office from nine in the morning until the end of the day. About 2,700 more vehicles than last year are now on Bradford's roads.
