Bradford schoolgirl Dawn Howard admitted she was feeling a bit nervous today when she went along to Westminster Abbey to meet the Queen Mother. But it wasn't such a terrifying experience as confronting a burglar in a butchers shop in Roundhay Road, Leeds, earlier this year. Hearing a noise she had picked up a meat cleaver and confronted a burglar - the intruder fled the scene.

A 75-year-old Skiffle fan is definitely young at heart as he is due to get married again. Hobson Coop, of Kilpin Hill, Heckmondwike, will marry an old school friend Elsie Cantwell, of Stockport, on Christmas Eve. As teenagers the couple, who have both been widowed, were good friends and used to play the mandolin together.
