25 Years Ago: Over 500 people had been feared dead in and around Moscow’s parliamentary building as Russian president Boris Yeltsin ordered his troops to crush the hard-left rebellion without mercy. Calling in his Spetsnaz Paratroopers, Yeltsin had agreed to spare those who raised their weapons or white flags.
50 Years Ago: Bradford Park Avenue announced that Mr. Raymond Ambler had been appointed chairman of the club after Mr Evans resignation. Mr. Ambler, the head of a Bradford wool firm, was following in his father’s footsteps by becoming an Avenue director.
