25 Years Ago: Work had started on a £5,000 facelift for a 130-year-old landmark. Bradford Council was finally spending some money on the Albert Memorial in Queensbury to repair dilapidated flagstones and masonry.
50 Years Ago: Canvas shelters over a workman’s trench at the junction of Legrams Lane and Ingleby Road, had been destroyed by fire after a gas cylinder in the trench had exploded. The fire had also severely damaged the wood shorings, but no one injured.
