Left-wing Labour MP Bob Cryer has called on the Government to pay the Royal Family a salary for the job they do and open Buckingham Palace to the public. The Keighley MP made his call during the second reading in the commons last night of the Duchy Of Cornwall Management Bill which updates the management of the Duchy, from which Prince Charles derives his home. He called on the Government to stop the Prince from getting his income from the Duchy free of tax.

Less than four years after Bradford City Council decided to use half the old Bradford Moor golf course for playing fields, most of the area, and part of the remaining course, is wanted for the building of two schools. As the proposal stands the school site would cut off another two or three holes from the remaining nine-hole course. Bradford Education Committee will be asked to approve in principle use of the land for the new secondary schools.
