A scheme which aims to bring new jobs, homes and amenities to many urban areas, including Bradford, will be outlined at a meeting next week. Details of the urban development grant will be explained to an invited audience of businessmen and local authority and community leaders at the Metropole hotel in Leeds by members of Environment secretary Michael Heseltine's financial institutions group.

Two Bradford families escaped an electric storm. The families were asleep in their end back-to-back home in Daisy Street, off Great Horton Road, when lightening stuck their chimney stack and sent two tons of masonry onto the roof of a garage next door.
