25 years ago: A tug-of-war broke out over the ownership of the long-lost Rugby League World Cup, which had been stolen from a Bradford hotel 20 years previously, with the man who found it in a Bingley ditch refusing to accept an "insulting" cash offer to sell it back to Rugby League bosses.
50 years ago: Thieves stole 600 sticks of gelignite and 200 detonators from the explosives store of Percy Pickard Ltd, a builders merchants in Eccleshill, prompting Bradford police to warn businesses to keep their safes empty of cash.
