25 years ago: Labour councillors in Bradford accused the Tory ruling group of "damaging the reputation" of the Alhambra and St George's Hall, by defying the advice of council officers and provisionally offering catering contracts for the venues to private companies.
50 years ago: Cleckheaton councillors warned that the proposed new road through the town - the A638 from Bradford to Dewsbury and Wakefield - would cost at least £2million and "take away the livelihood" of half the traders in the Moorend area.
