25 years ago: Members of the National Association of Schoolmasters, and the Union of Women Teachers voted two to one in favour of strike action over pay, meaning more than 1,600 staff in schools across the Bradford district were set to walk out on April 4.
50 years ago: A bout of sickness among nurses was labelled "the last straw" for staffing levels at St Luke's Hospital in Bradford, with managers warning an extra 70 to 90 student nurses were needed to prevent either closing a ward or reducing the number of beds.
