25 years ago: Italian police officers were set to travel to Bradford and Leeds to study policing and crowd control techniques at football grounds, including Valley Parade, in preparation for English fans descending on the country for the 1990 World Cup finals.
50 years ago: Directors at Bradford City, who had been without a permanent manager for more than four months, said they were discussing the possibility of appointing 37 year-old Ken Barnes, who had lost his job as player-manager at Wrexham the previous day.
