25 years ago: Bosses at Bradford and Ilkley Community College said a £1 million budget reduction imposed by Council chiefs would mean reducing student numbers by about 550, describing the cuts as an "enormous blow" to the institution.
50 years ago: The Ministry of Health announced that work on a new £4 million general hospital for the Bradford district, at Eastburn, near Keighley, would begin within the next year, with a new £770,000 maternity unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary also confirmed.
