25 years ago: Bradford West Labour MP Max Madden said he was prepared to risk the possibility of going to jail rather than pay the Community Charge, or Poll Tax, saying his actions were "in solidarity" with many of his constituents being asked to pay more than they could afford.
50 years ago: The Bradford Property Trust Ltd, a company formed in 1928 by a group of businessmen from the city, applied for planning permission to build a multi-million pound new town for 10,000 people on the disused Martlesham Heath airport in Suffolk.
