25 years ago: Trading Standards officers were investigating a sponge ball toy bought from Boots after the mother of a Bradford toddler complained her son had split the stitching open to find dangerous metal spikes and a metal hook inside.
50 years ago: Alderman W M Hird, a former steeplejack, was installed as the 61st Lord Mayor of Bradford, after being proposed by his brother Horace, himself a former Lord Mayor.
