25 years ago: Virginia Bottomley, the Government’s Junior Environment Minister, visited Bradford to explain how the new Community Charge, the so-called poll tax, would affect residents.
50 years ago: Labour increased its overall majority on Bradford Council to 18, with four gains in the city’s municipal elections, compared to three by the Conservatives and one by the Liberals.
