From the Telegraph & Argus of November 3, 1981...Plans to make a film about the Yorkshire Ripper have been scrapped. The move follows protests by Doreen Hill, mother of Peter Sutcliffe's last victim, 20-year-old student Jackie. The film had been planned by Hollywood film company MGM. The senior vice-president wrote to Mrs Hill: "I want to assure you that we have abandoned plans for a version of the Yorkshire Ripper's murders."

From the Telegraph & Argus of November 3, 1956...Six pupils of Marshfields primary school, Bradford, heard about the United Nations Refugee appeal from their teachers and decided to spend their half-term holiday doing something to help. In just over two days they raised £3 6s which the youngest of them, five-year-old Stephen Terry, presented to the Lord Mayor Alderman H R Walker, today.
