The bunting was strewn, the flags flown and the trestle tables laid.

This bank holiday weekend the district was alive with street parties celebrating the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

Bradfordians were out in force marking the Diamond Jubilee just as they were for the Silver and Golden Jubilee celebrations in 1977 and 2002, and other significant Royal events over the years.

Just over 30 years ago the focus of street parties was on Prince Charles’s marriage to Lady Diana Spencer.

Youngsters gathering at Hirstwood Road in Shipley donned fancy dress to celebrate the royal wedding back in July, 1981.

The little girl at the front was inspired to dress as a bride, and she’s surrounded by assorted characters including a splendid shimmering robot, a cowboy, a maid, a wizard and even Dusty Bin, from Eighties TV show 3,2,1.

Over at St Leonard’s Road, Girlington, it looks like the entire street turned out to celebrate Charles and Diana’s wedding. The residents, sporting Union Jack hats, even baked a splendid cake featuring an image of the royal couple.

In Alpine Rise, Thornton, flag-waving revellers brandished a ‘Good Luck to Di and Charles’ banner, while on Hallowes Park Road in Cullingworth, youngsters dressed in mini-bridal outfits to celebrate the happy union, with flags, balloons and pom-poms.

Anyone spot themselves having a right Royal time in our pictures?
