Carol Pelan's account of queuing for tickets to see the Beatles at the Gaumont (Past Times, September 2) revived a special memory for Julie Pearson, who was Julie Driver when she and her friend Dorren Hanson were taken to see the "Fab Four" at the Gaumont by a Telegraph & Argus reporter who was a friend of Dorren's brother, Steven.
She thinks the reporter's name was Peter, and it would most likely have been Peter Holdsworth, this newspaper's showbusiness reporter for many years.
"That was how we got the tickets," she writes. "The show was wonderful but the best was to come afterwards. Dorren and I were allowed into the dressing room during the interview. All four Beatles were sitting there and chatted with us. It was a dream come true, but to this day I cannot think why I didn't ask for autographs.
"I haven't seen Dorren since I was about 17 or 18. That's a long time ago. She lived in Baildon with her mother, father, sister and brother. I would love to hear from her after so many years." (If Dorren would like to write to Julie care of me, I'll send the letter on).
Julie adds: "And what about the Students' Club that was opposite the Gaumont? I had great times in that place. The music was wonderful."
That's another story in Bradford's glorious musical past.
