Historic Saltaire is put into the spotlight with a new book of fascinating photographs from days gone by.

Saltaire Through Time, by Gary Firth and Malcolm Hitt, charts the history of Titus Salt’s model village in pictures, cleverly comparing and contrasting the scenes of old with their contemporary equivalents.

Obviously, some of the buildings in this protected community have not changed at all over 150 years.

But it is interesting to see how life as it is lived has changed over the decades – especially the transport methods and the clothing.

Saltaire Through Time is published by Amberley Books (amberley-books.com), priced £14.99.
