The reputation of Past Times readers for the range of their knowledge is spreading. From Glasgow comes a request for information about a cigarette case inscribed "With best wishes from the citizens of Bradford as an appreciation", with the years 1914 and 1919 either side of the Bradford coat of arms. On the back is scratched "Ernest Smith, West Yorkshire Regiment".
Miss Annie Jolly, who has written to us about this, asks : "Were these cases given to all soldiers from Bradford who served in the First World War? Were any silver cases issued (the one in my possession is silver plated)? And were they issued by the Town Hall?"
Over to you, readers.
