Derek Mozley writes with some extra points following the Remember When? piece about Thornbury Primary School and Private Eric Anderson (November 20).
Mr Mozley writes: “Some clarifications first – he was a stretcher bearer, but in the East, not West Yorkshire Regiment. He actually went into No Man’s Land three times, and was mortally wounded not on his third visit, but in attempting a fourth.
“Private Anderson performed his feat of bravery on April 6, 1943, when attached to the East Yorkshire Regiment. This was at Wadi Akarit, Tunisia. He was 27.
“As well as Thornbury Primary School, memorials to him include Bradford Cenotaph, a gallery in City Hall, a plaque in Bradford Cathedral, a plate in Beverley Minster and a stone at Fagley United Reformed Church.”
