With regard to the photographs of the two nurses (November 27), my wife, Mrs Olive Irene Norton (nee Nelson), says that the lower photo is of herself being presented with her certificate after completing her SRN training period at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
This was in February, 1952, and the lady presenting was Mrs Hamilton-Stewart, wife of the leading surgeon at the time, Mr Henry Hamilton-Stewart.
She is not certain who the nurse is on the other picture but as she seems to be getting a prize as well as the certificate, she may be the girl with the top marks, who was a Joyce Wilson.
She seems to think that this young lady came from over the border in Lancashire.
