A memorial to servicemen who died in the Second World War has been discovered in the collar of a Bradford school.
The large wooden memorial, carved with 29 names in alphabetical order had been stored in the cellar at Farnham Primary School in Stratford Road, since at least 2000.
In good condition, it has Princeville Secondary Modern School - which was off Legrams Lane - inscribed above the names of those lost.
Head teacher at Farnham Primary Richard Edwards says: “We don’t know how it came to be there and decided to display it in the library. We honoured it on November 11 last year, with a small ceremony.”
The ceremony formed part of its work with Historic England, who provided the school with a wreath. “We held a minute silence at 11am with our school council,” adds Richard.
The school is interested in contacting any relatives of those named n the memorial: LAC Harry Ackroyd, Corporal Harry Benfield, Pte Jack Brian, Gunner Arthur Brown, Pte Harold Brown, Pte CE Clarke, Rifleman Walter Coates, Signalman H Craven, Stoker Sydney C.
