We have brought you news before of efforts to restore an old steamroller, which was popular with children when it stood in Pudsey Park for many years.

The Friends of Pudsey Roller are aiming to raise £30,000 to restore the old roller, which was saved from the scrapyard.

Brian Woolhouse of the Friends group says the current fund stands at £16,000.

The next fundraiser is a talk on Transport and Steam, Ledgard Buses, at Farsley Liberal Club on Thursday, April 11, at 7.45pm. Tickets are available from Jackie Gowing on (0113) 2503634 or jc.gowing @btinternet.com.

The event, which includes a pie and pea supper, features an illustrated presentation by Don Bate, author of Beer and Blue Buses, the definitive history of Samuel Ledgard’s bus and coach company. Visit pudsey-roller.co.uk.
