Bingley Bees won all three matches as they took on West Yorkshire Police in the inaugural Clare Lyness Challenge Cup at Bradford Grammar School.
Clare, a former police officer, played for both the Bees and the Police but lost her fight with cancer last year and the memorial fixture was set up by the club to be an annual event in her honour.
The three matches were all played in good heart but with a competitive edge, the men kicking off the day and winning 1-0.
It was a skilful match, featuring end-to-end hockey, and Matt Clough kept up his league scoring form with a superb reverse flick to seal the victory.
A mixed game was next and an entertaining first half saw four goals shared, with only good keeping preventing another flood of goals after the interval.
Then a Bees break ten minutes from time resulted in a goalmouth scramble and the clinching goal for a 3-2 win.
Finally the Bees ladies took to the pitch, with many of Clare’s former team-mates turning out to pay their own tribute.
The Bees played a solid game and saw several shots deflected away but their determination paid off in the second half as Jo Geldard slotted the only goal past keeper Rachel Fuller.
To round the day off, a carvery was organised at Bradford & Bingley Sports Club where the Challenge Cup was presented to the Bees.
