Last weekend’s Skipton Tough 10 saw 63 runners complete the aptly-named ten-mile circuit from Aireville School with some early climbs through Carleton and Lothersdale.
Amy Green of Keighley & Craven was the convincing winner of the ladies race, her time of 65min 40sec being four minutes ahead of Clare Pearson from host club Skipton AC.
In the men’s race, Lee Athersmith (Bingley Harriers) was first in 57min 35sec, well clear of in-form Will Kerr (Saltaire) in second, followed by the chasing Wharfedale pair, Matthew Athersmith and Lucas Payne. Dave Woodhead of Pudsey Pacers was eighth.
In the Lake District, Simon Deakin (Leeds City) was runner-up in the nine-mile Fairfield Horseshoe fell race (with 3000ft of climbing).
Deakin was somewhat adrift of Borrowdale’s Morgan Donnelly, who won the event in 1hr 20min 19sec. Claire Russell (Calder Valley) was first lady in 1hr 49min.
Wharfedale Harriers featured near the front in the shape of Ted Mason and Mark McGoldrick (fifth and sixth). Lee Morley (Ilkley Harriers) was 12th and James Titmus (Pudsey & Bramley) 16th.
Bingley’s Lee Athersmith was also victorious the previous day in the Senior 3000m Steeplechase at Cudworth during the Yorkshire Track & Field Championships, clocking a time of 9min 56sec.
Other Harriers to collect titles included Oliver Robinson (Senior 400m), Chloe Holden-Wilson (under-17 200m) and Rebekah Tiler (under-13 80m).
Guiseley-based Skyrac AC’s Beth Thomas was a double winner in the under-15 discus and shot events, while team-mate Jordan Bransburg won the under-17 800m in 2min 2sec.
* The new eight-lane track at the University Academy Keighley (the former Greenhead school site) was officially opened on Saturday.
Initially, the track will be open for club runners on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and most Saturday mornings.
There will also be a series of open track and field meetings.
John Dennis of Keighley & Craven AC said: “The academy has a fantastic range of new outdoor and indoor sports and community facilities that will help put Keighley in the premier league for sporting opportunities.”
