Bingley Harriers are aiming to catch them young.
The Beckfoot School-based club want to teach children from Year Three upwards how to run, jump and throw in a safe and friendly professional environment.
They hope that sportshall athletics will then lead to track and field athletics.
Regular checks will be made on the youngsters’ progress and there will be the opportunity to win sportshall badges, as well as the club’s Track Star (Club Sportshall Championship) and Pulton Cup (Club Track & Field Championships).
There will also be a Hound of the Month award, culminating in the Hound of the Year trophy.
All of the club’s coaches are UK Athletics-trained and graded from Level One to Level Three.
Available competitions for those who make the grade are the West Yorkshire Track & Field League, cross-country leagues, Yorkshire & Northern Athletics leagues, the McCains Young Athletes’ League, sportshall athletics and local club events.
