A frozen course at Dewsbury on Sunday saw the halfway mark passed in the five-race West Yorkshire Winter League.

Stainland’s Ben Mounsey slid home first, ahead of Leeds-Bradford Triathlon’s Rob Bridges and Mounsey’s team-mate Gavin Mulholland.

Baildon’s Quentin Lewis, returning to form after a plantar fasciitis injury, consolidated second spot in the overall standings, behind Mounsey, after finishing fourth on the day.

Pudsey Pacers’ James Clark lies third, having finished ninth at Dewsbury. Steve Watkins, Baildon’s orienteering specialist, is next placed in the individual men’s table.

In the women’s race, Karen Pickles maintained her 100 per cent record, finishing first lady, with Stainland’s Jess Riley beating LBT’s Donna Edmondson-Booker for the first time this season, and closing in on her second place in the overall positions.

Skipton’s Jayne Butterworth (sixth) and Baildon pair of Diane Campbell and Denise Johnson (16th and 18th respectively) all make the top dozen overall.

In the men’s league, Pudsey head a tight threesome, with Baildon doing remarkably well to lead the chasing trio.

Idle AC are improving on recent seasons, with Phil Goode and Laurence Doddy scoring top 25 individual finishes.
