Pudsey & Bramley Athletics Club celebrated their centenary with a dinner at Stanningley Rugby League Club last Saturday, with ex-World Mile Record Holder and Olympic medallist Derek Ibbotson as guest speaker.
Ironically, Ibbotson was also a guest at their 50th anniversary celebration.
The club are the oldest athletics club in Leeds and were formed in 1910 as Bramley and District Harriers.
In 1966, the club were invited to use the then new Priesthorpe School as their headquarters and this brought about the name change to Pudsey & Bramley Athletic Club.
As the club enter their second century, a massive rebuilding programme is being planned at the school with possible new changing rooms and sports areas provided, including a synthetic floodlit area.
