Keighley & Craven Athletics Club entered a record five teams in the Northern Athletics Road Relays held in Manchester.

The event at Wythenshawe Park featured six and 12-stage races, with Keighley & Craven – who have seen a huge growth in the past year – performing admirably.

The men’s teams came home 30th and 45th and the women’s teams were 16th and 27th.

The club’s Ready to Run beginners group also entered for the first time and came 28th to qualify for the national finals, along with the other teams.

Ready to Run coach Richard Taylor said: “The girls did a fantastic job on the day. It was a hard run for them all but they put in an amazing amount of effort and I’m really proud of them.”

The team also achieved excellent performances at the Keighley 10K earlier this month.
