Airienteers fared well at the Hirst Wood event last Wednesday, which was won by Alun Powell with 250 points in 44.04. Steve Watkins was second just nine seconds behind, while Lucy Griffiths had a fine run for third and first woman with 170 points.
Local runners Chris Burden and Niall Burke were all in the first six home. There was good Airienteers’ representation at South Ribble OC’s regional event at Whitbarrow in the Lake District.
Veteran international Peter Haines (M55) from Ilkley was the winner on the 6.1km blue course in 50.45 while Sam Brown (M18) was only 17 seconds behind to claim second spot.

There is a mass start at 7pm each Wednesday and the ‘Score’ format allows runners 45 minutes to visit as many control sites as possible.
