Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope is set to benefit from a 10K event in Keighley on Sunday, March 16.

The BIGK 10K event represents an ideal opportunity for everyone to get into shape following the festive season, and runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome.

Given that some of the entrants could be newcomers, the multi-terrrain course, which has Victoria Park as its start point, will link the town's three other parks and will not be too testing.

Chiefly an off-road event, it is hoped that the race will encourage mass participation and be run annually, with Manorlands as the beneficiary.

Keighley & Craven Athletic Club, and a host of other key organisations, have agreed to support the event.

Sunday, March 16 is also Sport Relief Day, which will attract families via Sport Relief Mile events at various points around the course.

That date also marks the public launch of the Keighley Cougar Foundation, with a number of displays and activities planned at Cougar Park and Keighley Cricket Club leading up to the Cougars' home fixture with Workington that afternoon.

Entry forms and sponsorship forms are now available at www.sportkeighley.com Forms and entry fees should be returned direct to Manorlands in Oxenhope (address on the entry form) along with a 9x6 stamped addressed enevelope for a competitors' event number and further information.

Jodie Shepherd, fund-raising manager at the hospice, said: "Manorlands services cost £1.9m each year and rely on voluntary donations for the majority of this total."
