JONNY Brownlee will be bidding for a fifth-successive victory in the ever-popular Chevin Chase on Boxing Day.
But he is likely to face stiff competition as his brother Alistair, the Olympic and Commnwealth triathlon champion, is also listed among the entrants.
Like his younger sibling, Alistair is also a four-time winner of the race, having triumphed in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
The Brownlees are also expected to be joined by Canadian Simon Whitfield, who won triathlon gold in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
To have two Olympic gold medal winners in the field and two world champions is a real feather in the cap of the organisers Airecentre Pacers.
It promises to be quite a scrap at the front of a race in which all of the entries were filled up within hours of becoming available online.
The race starts from Guiseley Infants School at 11am.
The Bramhope-based Brownlees, who are strong supporters of local races, are also due to run in this year’s Auld Lang Syne fell race at Haworth, which promises to be stronger than ever.
Eight runners with Olympic experience are on the entry list for the annual New Year’s Eve run on Penistone Hill.
Having missed the event for the last couple of years, Olympic and Commonwealth gold medal winner Alastair Brownlee is set to return and lock horns with brother Jonny, who won the race in 2012.
Whitfield and Slovenia’s Richard Wagner add to the quality of the field for an event which was won last year by English fell running champion Tom Addison, of Helm Hill, who will defend his title.
