Experienced coach Stephen Wolstenholme has set up a beginners' club for runners aged 16 and above from the BD5 and BD6 postcodes.
Organised within the Run England structure, they have sessions every Tuesday from the Richard Dunn Sports Centre in Odsal (7pm-8pm), meeting in the old bar room beyond the reception desk from 6.50pm before setting out on the roads.
The sessions are free and the group is intended to appeal to all levels of ability and aspiration, with a variety of suitable training sessions provided, along with plenty of coaching advice.
A friendly and sociable atmosphere is fostered during the runs, as well as the occasional visit to the pub to allow everyone to get to know each other a bit better!
Further details are available from Stephen on 07837-211856 or from Holly Williams (holjwilliams@googlemail.com).
Meanwhile, Saltaire Striders are setting up two new groups for beginners, with the opening nights being next Monday and next Thursday.
Previous groups have been very popular, and each start with a warm-up and stretching before a short run, which can include walking if necessary.
Sessions will be led by qualified Run in England leaders, who will be available to offer help, advice and encouragement.
Leader Barney Lerner says: “We will make sure nobody gets left behind, and hopefully help you to improve your fitness and confidence over the coming weeks”.
