Redcar’s Ben Wear established a new record when he completed the seven-lap course of Adwalton Moor near Drighlington on Sunday in 44minutes 28seconds, lapping the rest of the field in the process.
He won the 10,000m race by 16 minutes from runner-up Colin Scott of the Yorkshire Race Walking Club.
Wear, 23, is one of the brightest prospects on the UK race-walking scene and is making the National 50kilometre championship his aim in October.
