PLAYERS and parents from Bradford Bulldogs Ice Hockey Club have raised over £1,000 to have a giant Bulldogs logo printed onto the ice at Bradford Ice Arena.
The bulk of the money was raised via a sponsored 15-mile bike ride along the Spen Valley Greenway cycle route, starting in Low Moor and riding to Dewsbury and back, followed by a picnic and games in Victoria Park.
A total of 17 club members took part, with the youngest being only six years old.
Other funds were raised by things such as cake sales and raffles.
Head coach Andy Brown said: "Ice hockey is a massive part of Bradford Ice Arena, and we have had many successes in recent seasons – from winning the Northern League and National Championships to having players invited to play for their country and abroad.
"We wanted to mark our success, support the club and to advertise ice hockey to prospective players, via a large Bulldogs logo on the ice."
The not-for-profit club, which last season won the EIHA Development Award for the second year running and the Young Club/Team category in the Bradford Sports Awards, are looking for sponsorship.
Anyone interested can contact marketing and fund-raising officer Leanda Smith at leandasmith@hotmail.com.
Bradford Ice Arena has a beginners' stick-and-puck session every Wednesday from 5.30pm-6.15pm.
Any child aged six and upwards with good skating ability can join the training sessions.
