Shipley Club were winners of the Eric Hutchinson Memorial Trophy after beating Skipton Craven 234-195 in the final at Broad Oak Bowling Club on Sunday.
In a repeat of the 2010 final, Skipton started as favourites, having won that clash, as well as last year’s semi-final. Shipley, however, were the quickest out of the blocks, with Dave Bland rolling back the years, as he carded a superb 21-6 success, ably assisted by Yorkshire junior champion Matthew Jacques (21-10).
Steve Pickles replied with a 21-12 for Skipton to reduce the deficit to 17 chalks, and when Graham Perry carded a 21-16 win, Skipton were only 12 points adrift.
Tight wins for Graham Lomax (21-20) and Mick Demain (21-18) kept Skipton in the game but with Chris Jacques (21-19) and David Jacques (21-15), Shipley had extended their lead to 16 chalks after eight jacks.
Shipley carded the last four games, with Mick Gadd’s 21-8 the match clincher, as Shipley took the title for the second time.

Rufford Park A were the winners of the Derrick Radley Trophy , as they defeated Drighlington Park 216-214.
Rufford held a narrow six-point lead after four jacks, thanks to a superb 21-7 victory by Tom Lawrence.
Drighlington turned it around in the middle four jacks to lead by eight chalks, thanks to wins from Carol Sharp (21-11) and Ronnie Benton (21-12).
Martin Benson’s 21-10 win kept Rufford in the game but when Josh Gamble carded a 21-16, Drighlington led by only two points, with the last two games on the green. But Guy Barrie won 21-16 against Lisa Rice meaning Ryan Benson’s 21-20 loss to Mark Smith was still good enough to see his side home by just two chalks.

The final of the £5,300 Brighouse Classic on Saturday includes three previous winners as Gary Ellis (Whitefield), Simon Coupe (Preston) and holder Graeme Wilson (Audenshaw) all feature in the bottom half of the draw.
All England champion Ellis plays Yorkshire star Scott Fisher in his opening game while Wilson plays Gary Wike (Pudsey ), and Coupe takes on Dave Jackson (Macclesfield) in search of the £1,000 first prize.

Tony Riley (Brighouse Sports) was the winner of the Federation Merit on Sunday at Tadcaster BC, after beating Craig Hebbard (Pudsey Littlemoor) 21-15 in the final.
Riley showed his class, despite struggling with his form this season, with wins over John Mort (Manchester) 21-14, Dave Stansfield (Brighouse Sports) 21-19, Gary Wike (Pudsey) 21-13 and Davis Poole (Doncaster) 21-9, on his way to the final.
Hove Edge Bowling Club, Brighouse are holding their annual Ladies Crown Green Open Day on Saturday, October 6 (start 10am).
There will be a supplementary competition for first- round losers.
