BRADFORD No1 AA
The third round of the Calder League on Sunday was won by Keith Collinson (Ultimate Barnsley Blacks) with 22lb 3oz. Andy Bradley (CH Electricals) caught 21lb 6oz for second place, followed by Dave Armitage (Punky’s 8) with 17lb 6oz. Raskelf Lake will be shut this Sunday for a members’ match, drawing 9.15am at the lake side. Willow Hall is continuing to fish well for bream, roach and small carp. The River Calder in Brighouse should be worth a visit for chub and grayling, as should the River Aire at Beal for bream and roach. Tickets for this year’s Calder Championship, with a first prize of £500, on Sunday, September 23 are available from Simon on 01274-571175.
LISTERHILLS AA
Members are requested to send off the forms which are trying to have cormorants added to the list of species to be brought under control. Forms are available from most tackle shops. The Sunday Open at Rodley was won by M Mannion with 4lb 11oz. Other results: 2 M Moss 3lb, 3 D Stephenson 2lb 9oz, 4 B Webster 1lb 7oz. The Wings Appeal charity match, also at Rodley, was won by M Moss with 4lb 6oz. Other results: 2 M Mannion 3lb, 3 E Harrison 2lb 8oz, 4 G Kitchen 2lb 3oz. The draw for Sunday’s match is at 9am. P Carter landed a perch of 2lb 8oz from a swim near the bridge. The next Saturday Open is on September 15.
BRADFORD SEA AC
The six-day trip to Culdaff was very successful. The eight anglers fished every day, with plenty of fish being caught – including pollock and coalfish up to 7lb and ling to 19lb 8oz. This specimen was caught by Peter Higgins, while one of 15lb was landed by John Wilcox. The biggest tope of 42lb was caught by Roger Smith. One day saw 15 tope landed and returned alive, with about 30 runs in total. Our next general meeting will be held at the New Inn, East Bierly, on Tuesday, September 18 (8pm). New members will be made most welcome.
WASHBURN VALLEY
The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 5lb 6oz rainbow trout by Paul Scrimshaw using GRHE. Fewston & Swinsty: Fish are sitting deep after more heavy rain put a chill in the water. Weighted fly are required to tempt trout into feeding. Thruscross: Nervous wild brown trout are feeding on buzzer and terrestrials blown into the margins. Catch details (week ending September 2) – Day ticket: Fewston 21, Swinsty 5, Thruscross (catch and return) 1; total fish caught: Fewston 89, Swinsty 17, Thruscross 6; average per rod: Fewston 4.2, Swinsty 3.4, Thruscross 6.1.
CLAYTON AC
Result of annual Con Club match at the Willows (28 fished): 1 Barry silson 52lb 4oz, 2 Derek Milner 36lb, 3 Steff Armitage 34lb 6oz, 4 Graham Hall 33lb. Biggest fish: Dean Clarkson 9lb 2oz. GREAT HORTON AC
Last week’s match at Sunrise Lakes fished well, with over 250lb of fish caught. Results: 1 O Hudspith 43lb 5oz, 2 J Sutcliffe 29lb 10oz, 3 S Smith 26lb 10oz, 4 D Cole 21lb 11oz. There is a working party this Saturday, meeting at the Traveller’s Inn at 10am. All should attend.
BINGLEY AC
Sunnydale will be closed on Sunday for a club match, drawing at 9am on the bank. To book on contact A Greenwood on 07971-428678. Reports of good river catches from the Aire and Wharfe are being reported and should be worth fishing this week as water levels settle.
HEWENDEN AC
Sunday’s away match results are as follows: 1 Michael Butler 14lb 2oz, 2 Dean Rothera 11lb 13oz, 3 Rob Judson 11lb 6oz. The next coarse match will be this Sunday, costing £10 all in with a 9am draw in the car park. All members are welcome.
CENTRAL AC
Our next match is at Oakland Waters, Gawdall, on Sunday. Meet 8am at the venue, with fishing from 9am to 3pm. Keep nets and landing nets are provided.
