A small squad of City of Bradford swimmers competed in the prestigious City of Sheffield No Frills Meet.

Rostrum places were hard to come by and City had to be content with 12-year-old Myles Stirk being their only medallist.

He stormed to silver medals in the 100 metres and 200m freestyle and the 200m backstroke, and a bronze in the 100m backstroke.

But it was his time of 2min 30.34sec in the 200m backstroke that was the highlight of the day - a national age group qualifying time for this summer’s championships.

Abigail Shuttleworth, 13, richly deserved her fifth place in the 200m butterfly.

Siblings Jasmine and Olivia Hanson continued their run of good form, when older sister Jasmine took sixth place in the 13 years 100m and 200m breaststroke and Olivia took eighth place in the 11 years 200m freestyle.

Swimming in the 17 years and over events, Sam O’Donohoe clinchéd sixth place in the 100m butterfly and 200m backstroke and eighth place in the 100m backstroke.

Other swimmers competing were James Dawson, who placed ninth in the boys' 17 years and over 100m breaststroke, and Jovana Lugonja, who finished tenth in the girls' 13 years 100m breaststroke.

The swimmers all train under the banner of Bradford Aquatic Development Programme.
