BRADFORD No1 AA: The last of the club’s open matches for the season at Cowthorpe last Sunday produced some bumper catches of chub and perch, all on float tactics. Steve Newns topped the catches with no less than 20 chub totalling 63lb 11oz, falling to maggot and waggler methods. This left him 20lb above second-placed James Vickerman, who had 14 chub for a remarkable 43lb 11oz. Bob Newby caught seven chub for an honourable 25lb 10oz, followed by Alan Grandidge with 17lb 9oz, while Geoff Cox caught six specimen perch for 10lb 11oz. Members are reminded that the coarse fishing season on rivers has now ended. Chellow Dene is worth a visit in the coming weeks for quality nets of roach and skimmers.
LISTERHILLS AA: Volunteers are required for Saturday’s working party at Pilley’s Dam, meeting at around 8.30am. Any help, no matter how little, will be appreciated. The close-season on rivers is now in force. Anglers who obtained Leeds Amalgamation membership through our club are invited to express their views about the erection of an otter fence at Knotford Lagoon. Call 07984-597328 or pass on a message. BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC: The boat that we use at Rhyl will not be back in the water until late this month, so our trip secretary is trying to organise an outing to the venue in April. If there are any fish about it will be worth a crack. If you fancy joining us then call Dave on 07711-987833. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, starting at 8pm. This is our presentation evening so please try to attend. You never know, you may have won a trophy.
BRADFORD CITY AA: The coarse river season has now closed and reopens on Saturday, June 16. Members are also reminded that the small lake at Staveley will be closed this Sunday for the first of the spring/summer matches. There are only two places left for this match. FIELD AC: For this season’s opening match on Sunday we are at Sessay and fishing on Alders, drawing at 9am. Can all those who have booked on but have not payed this year’s membership please ensure they bring their fee with them. If you are not a member, you cannot fish. Last year’s runaway aggregate winner Rob Lee will be fishing once again and needs a bit more of a challenge!
GREAT HORTON AC: Last week’s match at the Willows on Gold Rush Pool went very well, with everybody catching. Results: 1 A Brophy 34lb 2oz, 2 O Hudspith 30lb 7oz, 3 D Cole 18lb 13oz, 4 K Nouch 15lb. Best fish of the day was a carp of 7lb 6oz caught by Owen Hudspith. Thanks to everyone for attending. Please note that non-attendance without warning means the club still pay for peg fees.
HEWENDEN AC: Sunday’s match had a very good turn-out, with over 70lb of roach being caught. The winner was Nigel Bower (6lb 2oz), second was Ian Fieldhouse (5lb 3oz) and third Dean Rothera (4lb 14oz). The annual meeting will be held at the Star Public House in Bingley on Tuesday, March 27, starting at 8pm. All members are welcome.
FAR VIEW LAKES: Super Cup result: Grattan AC beat Field AC by five sections to three. Over 400lb of fish were caught in a very close match. 1 R Lee 48lb 12oz, 2 B Flatt 45lb 8oz, 3 M Serieka 40lb 5oz, 4 D Riley 36lb 10oz, 5 J Foreman 33lb 8oz, 6 G Brown 29lb 12oz.
BINGLEY AC: Rivers are now closed for coarse fishing until Saturday, June 16. Carp at Coppice pond have been responding to the milder weather, with several fish coming out this week – the largest weighing 20lb.
IDLE & THACKLEY AA: Result of Sunday’s match at Swainby: 1 A McNeil 13lb 4oz, 2 K Warburton 8lb 4oz, 3 C Hardaker 4lb 14oz.
