Bradford No 2 took on Wakefield No 2 in Division Two of the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League at Manningham Ward and had an excellent 5-1 victory.
The side have struggled for consistency but this victory will instill some much-needed confidence for the second half of the season.
Boover Singh won both frames comfortably against Chris Hall, as did captain Hanif Rafiq against Matthew Samples.
Anthony Green lost out in his first frame against Craig Spencer and looked to be heading for another defeat, trailing by some distance, but pulled back superbly and snatched the frame with an excellent long black down the cushion.
* Samples was at Undercliffe Cricket Club last week, where he took on England international and Bradford No 1 team captain Kevin Firth in the first round of the English Club Players' Championship.
Firth won the first frame comfortably but then seemed to lose a little confidence as Samples came back strongly to lead 2-1 and 3-2.
The match was then levelled up, and in the deciding frame a break of 55 meant Firth was a relieved man with progression to the next round.
It was a harsh end for Samples, who had played consistently throughout, but Firth knows he can play better as he looks to make the latter stages.
* The Hey’s Trophy second round starts tomorrow night, with first-leg matches as follows: Tong Libs A v Bradford Irish, Windhill Cons v Upper Bolton Cons B, Little Horton Unity v East Ward, Harold Club A v Eccleshill WMC A, Northcote Cons v Eccleshill Vic Cons B, Laisterdyke WMC B v Lilycroft, Undercliffe Cricket B v East Bowling Unity A, Queensbury Cons A v Undercliffe Cricket A.
The first round of the E Rosse Hopkinson Plate will also be played tomorrow night, with the following first-leg ties taking place: Eccleshill Vic Cons A v Great Horton Cricket, Upper Bolton Cons A v Lifeline Leisure, East Bowling Unity B v Laisterdyke WMC A, Eccleshill WMC B v Queensbury Cons B, Wibsey Libs A v Harold Club B, Birkenshaw Libs v Fairweather Green WMC, Salthorn WMC v Tong Libs B, Great Horton Cons v Wibsey Libs B.
