Young and old were on the podium in a bumper entry at the opening round of the Horsforth Motor Club’s Trials UK Novice and Beginners’ Championship Series at Home Farm, Tong.
Idle youngster Joe Faunthorpe won Hard Course Youth Class C, while Thomas Housecroft, although he was pipped by Bradley Mudd on the last section, still defeated over-40 winner Peter Field and rising novice Sam Cahill.
Stewart Oughton, 57, from Hartshead, was riding a new 300cc Beta but was also a victim of Field.
Dominic Horne and Myles Hutchinson notched an Oset one-two in Class E of the small-wheels category.
Appleyard Beta team rider Phil Disney, from Cross Roads, won Richmond & District Motor Club’s Peacock Memorial Trial at Telfit.
He defeated West Witton’s Richard Sadler and Malton’s Adam Milner, with Ilkley’s Graham Tales taking fourth place on his Gas Gas.
