Bradford No 1 earned a deserved 3-3 draw at leaders Harrogate in Division One of the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League.
Damian Wilks was unlucky to go down in the opening frame, where opponent Calum Waite sneaked a 58-45 win.
But he was outstanding in their second, the Bradford youngster securing an 80-10 victory to level the match.
Captain Kevin Firth was not at his usual best but Harrogate’s Tom Harris played exceptionally well, winning 70-23 and 60-37, which included a break of 49.
The writing looked on the wall for Bradford, with home player Gyles Behbood, who hardly lever oses at home, next to play.
Mark Slater stepped up, however, with two superb frames, making telling contributions at each visit and forcing Behbood to make many uncharacteristic mistakes.
Slater won the first 62-40 and ensured a share of the points with a final frame 57-19 win.
The side are next in action at Leeds.
In the Bradford Snooker Championships, Wilks stormed into the quarter-finals with a resounding 4-0 victory over Tilt Snooker’s Howard Mawson, which included breaks of 61, 47 and 46.
The deadline for all matches in the singles and pairs is February 18, and players are reminded that it is up to both parties to ensure matches are arranged in plenty of time before the deadline date.
Results should be sent to tournament director Richard Hagerty.
The second round of the Hey’s Trophy and first round of the E Rosse Hopkinson Plate start next Thursday. Details have been sent out to all clubs.
