Cross Roads denied rivals Brighouse a hat-trick of Naylor Premier League titles when they clinched the winner-takes-all battle between the sides in the final match of the season.

Richard Hargreaves (21-11) got Cross Roads, who were two points ahead of Brighouse, off to a flyer, with Ronnie Wormald (21-14) replying for the visitors.

Brighouse were always up against it and eventually went down 20-10 as Cross Roads were crowned champions at their first attempt.

Pudsey A finished third, winning more games than any other team, with an 18-12 win at bottom club Asa Briggs A, Stuart Hanson (21-7) being the pick of seven away winners.

Eccleshill A finished strongly with a 25-5 home win over Pudsey Britannia A, thanks to 21-9 wins from Ian Dewhirst and Nigel Roper, and an 18-12 win at Asa Briggs A.

Spen Victoria A have made a quick return to the top flight, winning the Godwin League title at a canter and finishing with a 17-13 victory at Bramley Liberals A thanks to a 21-3 success from John Armitage.

Eccleshill B beat Crossgates 20-10 to also ensure a return to the top flight. Andy Gilroy (21-10) was the pick of seven home winners.

Heckmondwike needed a 17-13 victory with at least seven winners to send visitors Guiseley A down instead of them. After eight jacks they found themselves ahead by 23 with six winners, but 21-13 wins for Jeff Bolton and Graham Oliver saw Guiseley escape with a 17-13 defeat. Heckmondwike were relegated, having one less individual winner.

Pudsey Littlemoor B were crowned champions of the Observer League, despite going down 20-10 at Salts A.

John Preston (21-8) and Adrian Briggs (21-9) were on form for Salts. Horsforth Woodside A finished runners-up with an emphatic 27-3 home win over bottom club Royd House, Gary Wike and Ian Bolton producing 21-3 victories.

Peel A surprisingly went down 20-10 at home to Queensbury A, for whom Maureen Holmes won 21-9, and find themselves relegated.

Knowles A finished with a 19-11 victory over Tyersal A, with 21-6 wins for Tony Gallagher and Trevor Worsman.

The Bartle League continues this weekend but Pudsey B are already crowned champions after a 28-2 home victory over Bramley Liberals B. Jeff Ramsden (21-6), Bernard Trought (21-7) and Daniel Beardsworth (21-9) were the best of ten home winners.

Drighlington A, Clayton B, Crowghyll A and Bramley Liberals B are all in with a chance of second place.

Captain Andy Southwell (21-4) led Clayton B to a 20-10 home win over Stanningley, Andy Smith (21-3) helped Drighlington A to a 20-10 win over Greengates, Crowghyll slipped up 16-14 at Bowling A and Lister A beat Oakenshaw A by the same score.

Eccleshill C are champions of the Haigh League after a 22-8 home victory over Bradford Moor A and a 19-11 win at Horton C. Pudsey Britannia B were promoted as runners-up as they beat Wyke B 24-6.

Brackenhill A were relegated as they went down 16-14 at home to Asa Briggs B. They were joined by Rufford B, who stumbled 17-13 at home to Asa Briggs B.

Pudsey C knew they were Riley League champions before they beat West Bradford A 22-8. Stan Best (21-10) was the pick of seven home winners.

Harold Park finished runners-up with a 26-4 home victory over Drighlington B. Knowles B were relegated as they went down 26-4 to Queensbury B. Peel B were also relegated as they lost 23-7 at Cleckheaton Sports.

Field Packaging League champions Shelf A finished off with a 16-14 victory at Crowghyll B. Birkenshaw finished runners-up after an impressive 25-5 win over Horton B.

Lister B were relegated as they lost 19-11 at home to Salts B, who will be joined in the Mellor League next season by Bailiff Bridge A.

Bowling B, who won 16-14 at West Bradford B, are champions of that league.

Oakenshaw B slipped up 17-13 at Bradford Moor B but finished second after Peel C lost 19-11 at Shelf B.

Tyersal B finished in style with a 27-3 win over Brackenhill B, who find themselves relegated with Horton C. Barbara Page and Eric Pennells enjoyed emphatic wins.

West Royd remained unbeaten in the Moorhouse League as they trounced Peel D 27-3, while Queensbury C beat Wibsey D 22-8 to ensure promotion to the Mellor League.

  • A superb field has been assembled for Saturday's final night of the Brighouse Classic (5.30pm). First-round ties include Gary Ellis (Whitefield) against Liverpool's Danny Barwise while Lee Lawton takes on Andy White.
  • Shipley were winners of the Jennings Crackles Trophy on Sunday with a demolition of Yeadon Park at Menston.
Shipley pulled back the 30-point start they had given their opponents after two jacks as they romped to a 210-84 triumph.
