The Watermeadows Swimming Complex Mansfield was the venue for the Major Oak Open Meet, hosted by Mansfield Swimming Club.

A team of City of Bradford members made the journey down the M1 and were rewarded with a plethora of medals and personal-best times.

The gold medal charge was led by 12-year-old Abigail Shuttleworth, who won the 50 metres, 100m and 200m butterfly and was a finalist in the 200m individual medley.

Also swimming as a 12-year-old, Isobel Mawson produced some outstanding performances to stand on top of the rostrum in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke and in third in the 200m medley. Ellie Talbot, 14, took the plaudits in the 50m freestyle and 100m and 200m backstroke. She also placed second in the 200m freestyle.

Also in the girls' events, Elle Pickett captured gold in the 11 years 50m backstroke, silver in the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m and 200m backstroke and bronze in the 200m medley. She also placed fifth in the 200m breaststroke.

In the 15 years and over age groups, Joanna Gledhill dominated the 50m breaststroke and came third in the 100m event.

Siblings Jessica and Millie Foulds took home silver medals in the girls' 15 years and over 50m breaststroke and 12 years 200m backstroke respectively, the younger sister also taking bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Jasmine Hanson collected silver in the 13 years 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m event.

Joanna Lugonja, Rebecca Toulson, Emma Blaby, Megan Lee and Azura Cairns-Poole all continued their runs of good form to collect silver medals in their respective age groups, as did Gianni Vienza and James Blaby in the boy’s events.

Bronze medals went to James Lund in the 12 years' 200m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 200m backstroke, Jovanna Lugonja in the 50m backstroke, Emma Blaby in the 200m breaststroke and Aidan Sheldon in the boys' 14 years 100m breaststroke.

Other finalists were Laura Hartley, Laura Mitchell, Ellie Coones, Nicole Fordham, Natasha Wilson, Olivia Hanson, Hannah Beaumont, Lucy Ward, Jordan Tate, Nathan and Luke Strauss and Alex Medd.
