Leeds flyweight Nicola Adams added the European title to her two world silver medals with a gutsy come-from-behind victory over Sarah Ourahmoune of France in Rotterdam.
Former Bradford College student Adams, who trailed by a point at the halfway stage, clinched a 15-8 victory after a storming finish which bodes well for her chances of success at the London 2012 Olympics next year.
She said: “This means so much to me. Not only have I won European gold but I’ve also earned valuable ranking points.
“This is one of the high points of my career but Olympic gold is my real focus now.”
